BCGS Website

Welcome to the Revised and Updated

BC GEOPHYSICAL SOCIETY WEBSITE!

In May 2011, the BC Geophysical Society held a round-table discussion on inversions utilizing the UBC Geophysical Inversion Facility codes. Attendees from academia, independent contractors, geophysical service companies, and mining corporations’ geophysicists came together and had much to share on lessons learned and best practices associated with executing inversions.

The BCGS executive met afterwards and discussed how to disseminate the valuable information exchanged during the day. One solution suggested was a “blog” like format through our website to disseminate the information as well as to allow feedback via the website to continue the discussion on key topics. A great idea, except our previous website was static and could not handle such dynamic interaction. After some research, we found out that upgrading the website would not be a daunting task and at the same time improve the ease of use for the executive staff to update and keep the site current.

So from this … we would like to introduce the new BC Geophysical Society Website.  Please feel free to let us know what you think of the new format.

In the coming weeks we will begin the dissemination of the material gathered from the inversion workshop here on the website.
